marian marquez ruiz de gopegui

Marian Marquez is a Catalan composer. She has graduated in piano from the Conservatori Professional de Música in Vila-seca, Tarragona. After that, she graduated in piano and composition from the Conservatori Superior del Liceu, Barcelona. 

​In the field of Composition she has estudied with Manuel Oltra, Lluís Vergés and Carles Guinovart. She has taken part in master classes with Leonardo Balada, Luís Naón, Carles Guinovart, Lluís Naon, Maucio Sotelo and Josep Soler.  Her repertoire encompasses chamber music, solo instruments and voice. She is very interested in pedagogical composition and has developed a flexible style for this repertoire. She has won several Composition prizes in Catalonia: "Joaquim Maideu Prize" (2004, 2008),"Dolors Calvet Prize" (2010), "Ciutat de Reus per a corals infantils" (2009), "Sincrònic" (2010)  and "Ziryab Prize" (2014, 2016).

She has been selected by Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, EEUU) to premiere her piece "Synchronies", for ensemble, during the 2014 season.​ Her music has been edited by Brotons&Mercadal, Dinsic and Periferia. 

She is also interested in audiovisual music creation and she studied  the MCAV in Katarina Gurska Conservatory in Madrid.  She is working in several projects in this field and classical music.
